Dear Fellow Sportsman:

Year after year the Ottawa Sportsmens' Club provides local, regional, and State-wide leadership in conservation affairs. To do this takes both time and money. We have a dedicated group of leaders and members who devote much time to Club maintenance and conservation matters. Our annual budget is now over $50,000. Most of our annual operating funds come from our Turkey Shoot held the last Sunday in September for the past 43 years.

Our 43rd annual Turkey Shoot will be held an September 26 at the Clubhouse on highway M-38 west of Baraga. As always we are asking all of our 400 plus club members to help make this event a success. If you can be there we will welcome your participation. Please contact Russ Weisinger at 906 353-6859 if you can help in the preparation prior to the 26th or come to the clubhouse on the 26th to pitch in, then join in the social after.

We are enclosing two books of raffle tickets for our Grand Raffle with this letter. If your are unable to attend the Turkey Shoot event on the 26th you can still participate. Please sell the enclosed tickets or buy them yourself and forward your check and stubs to Club treasurer Mike Faucher at P0 Box 475; Baraga, Michigan 49908. Please contact Russ or Mike if you wish to order more tickets. Your efforts will help maintain a voice for Sportsmen and provide conservation education for our area youth.

Your Club continues to focus on youth in conservation as one of our primary interests. We continue to sponsor hunter safety courses at the clubhouse. This year a number of our members conducted our fifth annual week long Sports Shooting Camp for 16 area teenagers. We will furnish TRACKS MAGAZINE for some 450 area 5th and 6th grade students for the 2004 - 2005 school year We continue to fund a conservation section in the libraries of all three or our local school systems. There have been a number of improvements to the Clubhouse and grounds as well as the Courtney Lake camping and picnic grounds and more are on the planning stage.

Thank you for you interest in the protection of our outdoor heritage and conservation of our natural resources. Please let us hear from you again this year. Be sure to visit our web site at for all the current news and happenings as well as many interesting facts about your Ottawa Sportsmens Club.

Sincerely, Joe Dyke, President
