March 31 ( Monday) -- Board of Directors Meeting, 7:30 p.m.
April 7 (Monday) -- Regular Membership Meeting, 7:30 p.m.
April 3 (Thursday) -- 7:00 p.m. -- Organizational meeting of The Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) who are exploring interest in the establishment of a local chapter encompassing Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga and Ontonagon counties. This meeting will be to determine interest and further explain the benefits of forming a local chapter. Everyone interested in learning more is encouraged to attend. April 5 (Saturday) -- 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. -- This event is jointly sponsored by the OSC, UP Whitetails and Keweenaw Bay Cutters with Habitat Workshops on woodlot management, food plots, trees, and shrubs. Kevin Swanson (DNR) will speak about "LIPP", a state tree-planting program. Rob Aho, DNR Wildlife Biologist, will talk about literature and information sources to help make sound habitat decisions. Also speaking will be Joel Hagan on integrated wildlife management and Scott Slajus on the National Wild Turkey Federation's role in habitat improvement, programs, and positive feedback from other NWTF projects. Food plot corn and soy seeds will be distributed to Keweenaw Bay Cutter members.
April 13 (Sunday) -- 1:00 p.m. ANNUAL WILD GAME FEED. If you have any contributions of game and fish, please contact Ron Moilanen or Joe Dyke for planning purposes. Bring your favorite dessert to place on that wonderful dessert table that always graces the dining hall at the OSC Clubhouse dinners. Prices for this event are $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors, and $4.00 for children under 12 years of age.
REMINDER for May 17 -- SPAGHETTI SUPPER, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Supports the Youth Pistol Team. Drawing will be held for the MEMBERS ONLY RAFFLE of a Browning Buckmark NRA Commemorative 22 caliber pistol. If you would like additional tickets they can be picked up at the clubhouse or from Mike Faucher or Judy Glandon. All money and filled-out tickets go to Mike Faucher, OSC Treasurer, PO Box 475, Baraga, MI 49908, or dropped off at the clubhouse.
DUES REMINDER for those who have not yet paid their dues. Dues are due by April 1 to avoid interruption in your membership. Please send your dues to the membership secretary as soon as possible or advise if you plan to drop your membership. We have to send paperwork and dues to renew our members with the MUCC at the end of April. If you haven't paid your dues by then your membership drops from the roster. There is a list of unpaid members at the clubhouse, or you can call or email me if you're not sure if yours are paid. Thank you.
