It's almost here .. that is, the 48th Annual Turkey Shoot at the Ottawa Sportsmen's Club will be held on Sunday, September 27, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There's lots of action on that day but before it arrives there is much to be done by the members. You are needed to solicit sponsors and prizes for the dime raffle. This year could be one of the hardest in recent history with the economy being what it is so the more of you who make contacts (or, maybe you can donate something yourself) the better chance we have that this Turkey Shoot will be one of the best. Remember, this is our major fund raiser to meet the expenses to operate this club throughout the year. Jack Lehto is the contact person for obtaining sponsors and gifts. All Jack asks is that you let him know as soon as possible where you will be going so we can cover all the bases. His email is email@example.com or phone 906 353-6709. If you need a copy of the sponsor letter I can email it to you also.
The Grand Raffle is running a little behind. If you haven't sent in your ticket and check, please do so soon or turn them in at the raffle table at the Turkey Shoot. The shotgun, rifle, quilt and wood raffles will be run as in the past. There will be a wood making bee on Thursday, September 24, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Dynamite Road site. Contact person is Russ Weissinger, 906 353-6859 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Contact person for the overall Turkey Shoot is John Stenvig at 906 353-6786 or email@example.com Helpers will also be needed on Saturday, September 26, for set up at the club. Tell your friends and neighbors about Turkey Shoot 2009.
I can't leave the subject of Turkey Shoot without thanking all of you who take an active part in helping our club on this most important event sponsored by and for the Ottawa Sportsmen's Club. When we each do a little it makes for a big job well done!
Next item is that we will be offering CCW classes. Jeff Stroud will be the instructor. We need to hear from all of you who would like to take the class or have a friend or neighbor who is interested.
The 2009 CCW class is scheduled at Ottawa Sportsmen's Club on:
Saturday, October 3, 2 pm to ? and; Sunday, October 4, 9 am to 5 pm
Space is limited and on a first-come first-served basis.
Cost is $110 for OSC members and $150 for non-members.
Contact Jeff Stroud at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
