It's already time for April Showers .. Winter left us early this year or is it really gone!!!?!?!?! We can only hope Spring is here and we'll have those showers we need so badly if our gardens are going to grow. That is no April Fool, either.
Regular membership meeting will be Monday, April 5, 7:30 p.m. I am attaching the events schedule in case you have need a refresher on the club's 2010 activities.
CCW and personal protection in the home class will be held on April 17 & 18, at the club by NRA certified instructor Jeff Stroud (club member). Contact Jeff for class registration and materials list for class at firstname.lastname@example.org or cell phone 906-370-8288. Class size is limited to 10 participants. Class sessions are 9 am to 5 pm each day. Bring a lunch. The coffee pot will be on and there is a pop machine. Jeff would like to hold one class per month so let him know when you are interested. Pass the word to non club members as well as they are always welcome. Class cost is $110 to members and $150 to non-members (people can join the club for $35 before they take the class). On a personal note from me .. I took the first class Jeff offered and it was well presented and in a very professional manner. I enjoyed it so much it cost Jay a Sig Sauer .22 caliber Mosquito for me at Christmas ... :~)
The WILD GAME FEED is coming up on Sunday, April 25, serving starts at 1:00 p.m. at the clubhouse for members and guests. That will come at a cost of $8 for adults, $7 for Seniors (65+), and $4 for age 12 and under.
Saturday, April 24, beginning at 9:00 a.m. will be a "Pre-Game" workday with many hands needed to help prepare food, set up the dining room, and spruce up the inside of the building in preparation for the big day. Come and pitch in to show your support for our club. We will also do our spring Highway Cleanup on Saturday morning after breakfast.
The chairman, Todd Bratt, says they still need more game of any kind but especially venison, if you have any to contribute please contact him at 616-403-6347. Members are requested to bring a dessert for our table that always fills so magically and disappears even faster! Thank you in advance ladies and gents for your contributions.
We will draw the winning tickets during the Wild Game Feed for our "members only raffle" of a Barnett Quad 400 high def camouflage, composite stock, CNC cams, synthetic cable system, 4 lb trigger, machined scope mount with red dot scope, 345 feet per second which is legal for hunting in the State of Michigan, 150 lb draw weight with integrated crank cock, quiver and 4-22 inch bolts, weighs only 7 lbs, and comes in a soft carry camo case. The complete outfit came from Dunham's Sports carrying an original selling price of $650. If you haven't sent your tickets and checks yet, there's still time to send or bring them with you on Sunday, April 19, to the Wild Game Feed. I'll have a few tickets at the dinner if you've misplaced yours or would like more chances. You need not be present to win but think how much fun it would be to take the crossbow home with you.
Mark your calendar now so you don't forget the Jr. Pistol Team will sponsor a spaghetti supper on Saturday, May 15, serving 4-7 p.m. at the clubhouse. This supper and their members only pistol raffle are the only two money making efforts they have to earn their way to Camp Perry, Ohio, for the Nationals. Plan to support them by attending the supper and buying the raffle tickets on the 45 cal which were mailed to you earlier in March. Again, you need not be present to win the pistol with the drawing being done at the end of the spaghetti supper. If you need tickets, let me know, or pick up additional tickets at the spaghetti supper.
Youth Shooting Camp for ages 14-18 is scheduled for June 14-18. If you have a child, grandchild, friend, or neighborhood kid who would like to take the class start now by contacting Mark Wuori at 906-288-5471 or email email@example.com for an application.
Dues of $25 for 2010 need to be paid now if you haven't paid yours. If for any reason you will not be renewing your membership in the OSC, please let me know as I will be renewing with MUCC later in April and if I haven't received dues, those members will be dropped from the MUCC roster.
Thank you to everyone who has paid their dues and bought raffle tickets. You make my job easy :~)
Til next month ...
