Trap Range opened today, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. and will be open on Wednesdays through summer and fall until the snow flies. The Range Committee says birdshot is causing problems on the rifle and pistol range where slugs should be the only ammo used. Birdshot is to be used only on the Trap Range and NO!! PISTOLS OR RIFLES will be allowed on the Trap Range. If you witness range users NOT following these regulations, please either advise them or report them to Ed Fugenschuh or Mike Harkonen at 353-7268 or email@example.com. Thank you for helping to keep our range in good order for users.
IDPA Pistol Competition will be Saturday, May 8, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the OSC range. Cost is $5 for OSC members, $8 for non-members. This is not a sanctioned match. For more information: http://www.idpa.com/Documents/IDPARuleBook2005.pdf
The first Turkey Shoot meeting will be held on Monday, May 10, 7:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. This meeting is for planning purposes and all interested persons should attend. Don't wait for someone to ask you to participate ... please show up or call John Stenvig. Due to the downturn in our economy, we are going to need more support from members in procuring items for the dime raffle. Start early contacting businesses in your area so they put it in their budgets if they can help in any way. John Stenvig is the contact person at 906-353-6786 or email@example.com The 49th Annual Turkey Shoot will be held on Sunday, September 26, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Jr. Pistol Team Spaghetti Supper (all you care to eat!) is Saturday, May 15, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the clubhouse. Adults will be $8.00, Seniors 65+ $7.00, Kids under 12 years $5.00. This event helps the boys raise money to travel to Camp Perry, Ohio, for the US National Junior Championships in July where they have won several championships to bring back to the U.P. Contact is Bob Gardner at 906 338-2864 or firstname.lastname@example.org The "Members Only" raffle drawing for the Springfield Armory XD 45 cal pistol will be held at the close of the supper. If you haven't purchased your tickets or want more, they will be available at the door (or call or email me Judy at 906 288-3392). These are the only two ways the boys earn their way to Camp Perry, so come and bring your friends to the supper and purchase additional pistol raffle tickets (members only).
Camp Nesbitt - John Stenvig would like help on Thursday, June 3, for shooting instruction. Mike Roth and Todd Bratt have volunteered. Others should contact John. His contact info is above in the Turkey Shoot paragraph. If you have 22 ammo you could donate, that would be appreciated.
The club has a smoker/cooker offered for sale. You can see it at the clubhouse or contact Joe Dyke at 906-353-8505 or email@example.com for more information. Bids are being taken until the Monday, June 7, at the regular membership meeting, 7:30 p.m.
The highway cleanup for April was not well attended. We know ticks are a problem, but we still have the responsibility to clean up along M-38 near the club making it necessary to dress accordingly. Next cleanup is July 10-18 and the last one for 2010 is September 25-Oct 3 (usually Friday or Saturday before Turkey Shoot for us. Please put this on your calendar and help keep Michigan highways clean of litter
Thanks for listening ...
