In an effort to give more young people and their parents a more positive experience in the shooting sports, the OSC is conducting their 10th annual Jr. Shooting Sports Camp, with instruction in competitive (Olympic) style rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting.
Patterned after similar NRA National Shooting Camps, the shooters will be very closely supervised with NO LESS than one experienced instruction for every two shooters. The time at the camp will be divided between classroom instruction and actual shooting ... lots of it. We go through over 8,000 founds of ammunition during the shooting portion of the camp.
Classroom instruction will be on: shooting as an athletic event; competitive shooting; developing skills; responsibility; self discipline; equipment; basic marksmanship; safety; safety; safety .. etc.. And, did I mention, safety!
Since the year 2000, the OSC has been hosting an annual week long Junior Shooting Sports Camp for girls and boys between 14 and 18 years of age. During the camp, the students are thoroughly and intensively instructed in firearms safety and the fundamentals in shooting techniques for target rifles, pistols, and shotguns. The week long shooting camp culminates in a competitive Olympic style shooting event between two teams of shooters.
The Junior Shooting Sports Camp is operated by a volunteer staff of members of the Ottawa Spsortsmen's Club. The OSC donates the use of the shooting range, grounds and facilities for the week long camp.
For this year's Junior Shooting Sports Camp, the Ottawa Sportsmen's Club is requesting sponsor donations in order to offset the cost and expenditures in material and supplies to ensure the continuing success of this camp. Sponsorships are divided into categories of GOLD $100; Silver $50; Bronze $25; and any Other _____. Thank you in advance for your consideration and generous donation. Please send your donations to the Ottawa Sportsmen's Club, P.O. Box 475, Baraga, MI 49855. Any questions, please call Mark Wuori at 906-228-5471 (Marquette).
