Dear Fellow OSC Member:
Interest in your Ottawa Sportsmen's Club continues to be strong. Our membership rolls continue to grow and new members pitch in to make the Club a successful organization, which we are all proud to be affiliated with. Many improvements are made each year at the Clubhouse, indoor and outdoor ranges, and at the Courtney Lake property. This year we had a new metal roof installed on the main clubhouse, which replaces the old original metal roofing from 1984. We are also working at expanding the parking area closer to the range. We continue to invest much of our time and dollar resources into the youth of Baraga, Houghton, and Ontonagon Counties. Some of the highlights of youth oriented projects in the past year include:
Most of the dollars to fund our budget come from fundraisers conducted by our dedicated membership. These include our wild game dinner, sight-in days, raffles, clubhouse rentals, and of course, our annual Turkey Shoot, which is our main source of funding. Held the last Sunday in September and now in its 49th year, the OSC is counting on a successful Turkey Shoot to enable us to continue our current activates while keeping our annual dues at a comparatively lower rate.
This year's Turkey Shoot on September 26th, will feature most of the events of the past, with some new challenges on the range. This year, once again, we have chosen to hold a "members only" raffle, which has been well supported by our membership. There will be one cash prize of 40% of the total receipts from this raffle- up to $1000, and four fifty dollar prizes. The drawing for the winners will be at the regular membership meeting on October 4, 2010. The tickets are $10 each. We encourage you to purchase at least one. Members who may wish to increase their chances of winning, or to help our club and all the benefits we give back to the community may pruchase more. A letter with tickets was mailed to members, simply clip the ticket or tickets and mail the completed ticket(s) in the enclosed self-addressed envelope along with your donation to the OSC.
We appreciate your continued involvement and participation in our major fundraiser and look forward to seeing you at the Turkey Shoot.
