August Announcements

The next planning meeting for Turkey Shoot is Monday, July 29, 6:30 p.m. Hope to see you there. The monthly board meeting will follow beginning at 7:30 p.m.

We need more volunteers on the Turkey Shoot planning and solicitation of items for the 2013 Turkey Shoot coming up on Sunday, September 29, 2013. Please consider making some calls on friends and neighbors with businesses. Suggest gift certificates that would get a person into their business as a potential future customer. Checks are another form of donation that help us supplement prizes for the dime raffles. Please let Jack Lehto (353-6684 or jlehto@up.net) know about calls you will be making so we do not call on possible donors more than once. If you have any suggestions for others to make calls, they are most welcome also.

ANNUAL PICNIC TO BE HELD AT THE CLUB GROUNDS ON M-38, SUNDAY, AUGUST 4, 1:00 P.M. Meat, beverages and table service will be furnished. Please bring a side dish and/or desert to share. We can eat inside where it might be bug-free!!! If you would like to sit outside in a comfy lawn chair, bring one along. Come early and enjoy the activity on the range prior to the picnic.

The morning of the picnic, beginning at 9:00 a.m. to noon, OSC is holding a .22 cal. long rifle match on the range. All are invited to participate with a .22 cal. long rifle only and will cost $20.00 to enter. Cash prizes will be awarded to top 5 shooters. The cash amounts will be determined by number of entries. Club target rifles will be available for your use. You must provide your own ammo although some ammo will be available at an added cost to you.

The members only raffle letter will be in the mail the first week in August so please watch for it. There are two raffle items on each ticket this year with one being an Old Town Vapor 12XT kayak angler series featuring two rod holders, an anchor trolley system and comfort flex seat. Weighs only 59 pounds. The second item is a Stoeger 12 gauge shotgun over and under Condor Supreme with ventilated rib and single set trigger. Members will need to specify their first choice when returning tickets. Drawing will be at the October 7, 2013, regular member meeting. This raffle will replace the former “Grand” members only raffle.

Hunter Education Safety Class (pre-registration required) to be held at the club grounds on August 23, 24, 25 (Fri-Sun). Preregistration dates are Tuesdays, July 30, August 6 or 13, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
